Diagnostic Medical Physics
Makshi physics perform annual equipment compliance and performance testing of diagnostic radiology equipment required by TJC, HFAP and/or the State Department of Health. Tests are performed with minimal assistance required from technical staff on the following systems:
Radiographic Systems (S/F, CR and DR)
Fluoroscopic Systems
Dental Cone Beam CT (CBCT)
Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) Devices
Computed Tomography Systems
Vascular Imaging Systems
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Systems
We also provide a comprehensive audit of the radiation safety program. The audit results provide sufficient documentation to meet the requirements of licensing and accrediting organizations.
Quality Assurance
Monitoring of patient radiation doses from common procedures
Fetal radiation dose estimate calculations with guidance from CDRH, by an ABR certified diagnostic radiological physicist
Fluoro skin burn guidance from FDA
Review of personnel radiation exposures and preparation of the overexposure reports required by the State Department of Health
Review of incidents involving diagnostic X-ray to with respect to cause and subsequent action taken
Review of radiation safety procedures for compliance with regulatory requirements
In addition, by special request, we can also provide:
Testing of automatic exposure control devices for radiographic systems and fluoroscopy spot films
Design, calculation and inspection of radiation protection shielding
Assistance in the instruction of hospital personnel as required by state and hospital accreditation agencies
Attendance at client radiation safety meetings
Acceptance testing of all radiological equipment
Radiographic / Fluoroscopic / CCL / IR / CT Shielding
With the growing demand for staff, public and patient dose reduction, MPC is able to provide shielding plan designs to comply with all regulatory requirements and good radiation safety practices.
Makshi Physics providing acceptance testing services for all ionizing radiation producing and detecting equipment. We have an internationally respected group of medical physicists with proven and vendor accepted testing protocols.
It is our belief that the formal documentation of baseline performance of all newly installed equipment provides a high degree of protection for both the purchaser and vendor. These data provide a basis for comparison and assessment of future imaging status.
This documentation provides you with an added level of assurance that your new device either meets or exceeds the parameters provided by the vendor and nationally accepted values. Failure to meet this criteria is then documented for you to seek optimum performance from the manufacturer.
MPC has a large team of experienced medical physicists to provide you with acceptance testing and routine annual inspections for all of your mammography systems. We follow nationally-recognized testing standards, as well as system-specific testing requirements. We provide the following services:
Mammography systems:
Unit assembly evaluation
Beam alignment and collimation
High-contrast spatial resolution
Tube potential (kVp) accuracy and reproducibility
Beam quality (HVL) verification
Radiation exposure reproducibility
Breast entrance exposure and average glandular dose
Automatic exposure control (AEC) performance
Image quality evaluation
Artifact evaluation
Screen-film, computed radiography, and digital radiography detectors
Stereotactic breast biopsy systems (including phantom biopsy procedure)
In addition to equipment testing, MPC will help establish and monitor your ongoing quality control program. We will also help provide materials required for accreditation testing.
